On Monday, September 24, 2018, the Aikaterini Laskaridis Foundation held the 5th Panhellenic Violin Competition for the award of the Ismini Carter Scholarship for Higher Studies in Violin at a Musical University abroad (for a Bachelor or Master). The Competition, organized by the Aikaterini Laskaridis Foundation, is sponsored by the distinguished violonist and Athens Conservatory Professor Isminis Chrissochou Carter.
On the unanimous decision of the Jury, winner of the scholarship was Christie Bassaris, a student at the State Conservatory of Vorarlberg, Austria.
The competition jury was formed up by Mrs. Ismini Carter, Professor of violin and viola at the Athens Conservatoire, Professor of violin and viola of the “Piraikos Association”. The Committee included Yiannis Mizantzioglou, First Prize Piraeus Association viola player, Lawyer Morphou Papadimitriou, Violinist, Graduate of the University of Berlin, First Violin at the Athens State Orchestra, Nina Patrikidou, Violinist, Concertino of the National Opera, violin teacher and Akis Stratoudakis, violinist, soloist, First Violin at the Athens Opera.
On Tuesday, September 25, 2018 at 20.00, the award ceremony and a festive concert took place in the same room of the hotel in Great Britain. At the end of the concert, due to his excellent performance, the jury unanimously awarded a second scholarship to Panayiotis Nikolakis, a student at the Royal Academy of Denmark.
The event was welcomed by the General Manager of the Aikaterini Laskaridis Foundation, Vice-Admiral (ret) Konstantinos Mazarakis-Ainian HN and presented by Mrs. Maria Stagonis, organizer of the Competition.
The scholars performed works by H. WIENIAWSKI, S. BARBER, D. KABALEVSKY, P. D. SARASATE
Pianists Dimitra Mantzouratou and Ai Motohashi accompanied.
