On Wednesday, May 25, 2016 1:30 PM, the University of Athens (School of Law) in cooperation with World Maritime University – Malmö (Sweden), Swansea University (UK) and the National University of Singapore, are organizing a seminar designed for Law students or recent graduates wishing to develop their knowledge on specific issues of shipping law; Young lawyers with the determination to enter the shipping industry; Shipping lawyers or professionals working in the legal department of shipping companies who wish to enrich their know-how and improve their professional status.

The seminar will cover 4 days, with 7 intensive, interactive lectures per day, enriched and completed by discussion, Q&A periods and case-law analysis.

The topics that will be covered include:

  • Risk of ship’s operation (General average, salvage, collision)
  • Charterparties: performance, repudiation, clauses, timebars, laytime & demurrage
  • Liabilities (passengers, environmental) – Limitation – Enforcement (arrest, judicial sale)
  • Resolution of conflicts – Arbitration – Mediation
