The great scholar Dennis E. Rhodes, author of the first systematic bibliographic research on incunabula in Greece, has passed at the age of 97. We were honoured last April to have him as a speaker in our colloquium “One book, six centuries of history”, where he shared his experience and his undying love for books. The search for incunabula in Greece continues on his footsteps and in this journey we will always remember him with love and gratitude.
Dennis E. Rhodes was born in 1923. He was one of the top specialists in early printing, especially Ιtalian. In the course of his long career he published more than 300 bibliographical papers. He served as Deputy Keeper of the British Library, where he was the curator of its priceless collection of incunabula.
