The Hellenic Navy announced the commencement of the restoration of the aft boiler room and the Wireless room of the Floating Maritime Museum, Armoured Cruiser Georgios AVEROF. You can find the announcement here (in Greek).
The project is exclusively sponsored by the Aikaterini Laskaridis Foundation. Upon completion of the restoration, in combination with the operation of the lift that has already been constructed by earlier sponsorship of the Foundation, visit of this impressive space will become possible even to persons with difficulties in climbing stairs.
The Foundation, in coordination with the Hellenic Navy, often funds restoration work on the Floating Maritime Museum, as it believes this is a very important monument of Greek modern naval history.
