The Aikaterini Laskaridis Foundation, in collaboration with Lord Thomas Cochrane descendants (Thomas Alexander Cochrane, 10th Earl of Dundonald, 1775-1860) and the National Records of Scotland, undertakes the project of digitization and publication of the Greek section of his archive, which remained sealed since his death.

Lord Thomas Cochrane was a British Navy officer and a philhellene during the Greek Independence War of 1821. Having been appointed by the Greek National Assembly of Troizina Commander in Chief of the Greek naval forces, he took an active role in the campaign between March 1827 and December 1828.

The project is scheduled to start in January 2021 and the researchers’ team will be supervised by Dr. Katerina Galani and Dr. Konstantinos Thanasakis. The digitized archive will be available in the Foundation’s Digital Archives website and is expected to be concluded in 3 years.
