The Efkranti Awards were organized for the eleventh consecutive year by the Naftika Chronika magazine, under the auspices of the Aikaterini Laskaridis Foundation, and hosted at its Historical Library in Piraeus on Monday 20 May 2019.
The members of the jury, beginning with the saying “We honor those who honor our shipping”, chose – with knowledge, objectivity and clarity in their judgment – those who excelled in 2018.
Members and friends of the Greek shipping community were all gathered to celebrate with their presence the leading figures of the industry for 2018, which were appointed by an extended committee, consisted by representatives of maritime letters, academic research, specialized information and maritime business.
The jury of the 2018 Efkranti Awards is comprised of the previous’ years winners as well as representatives of the academic, business and shipping community of the country, journalists accredited to the Ministry of Shipping and Island Policy and the managers and regular columnists of the Naftika Chronika.
The award ceremony was presented by Mrs. Margarita Pournara, journalist.
The “Marilena Laskaridis” Award for Excellence in Maritime Culture and Helping the Hellenic Maritime Heritage was delivered to the newly elected Archbishop of America, His Eminence Elpidophoros.
