On Thursday, 9 February, the Chief of the Hellenic Navy General Staff, Vice-Admiral Nikolaos Tsounis HN, on board Armoured Cruiser Georgios Averof, the Chief of the Hellenic Navy General Staff, Vice-Admiral Nikolaos Tsounis HN presented an honarary plaque to the President of the Aikaterini Laskaridiw Foundation, mr Panos Laskaridis MSC, for his continuous support of the preservation and maintenance work on the historical ship.
In the context of its scope, the Aikaterini Laskaridis Foundation, wholehartedly supports the preservation and promotion of the historical battlecruiser, that forms an integral part of the Hellenic Navy recent history, especially important due to the part it played in the liberation of the Aegean islands from Ottoman occupationduring during the Balkan wars, in 1913-14.
