The second excavation season in Antikythera begins! The team of scientists returned once again to the place of the famous shipwreck, equipped with the latest technology and hoping to obtain more interesting results. The Aikaterini Laskaridis Foundation is a constant supporter of this great effort, sending also to the aid of the project the M/Y “Glaros”.
As every year, the systematic excavation is conducted under the direction of the Head of the Ephorate of Underwater Antiquities A. Simossi, in cooperation with Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution. The scientific leaders of the excavation, Th. Theodoulos and D. Kourkoumeli (EUA) and Brendan Foley (WHOI) are working with an excellent team of Greek and foreign archaeologists, divers, technical divers, photographers and filmmakers. Apart from the Aikaterini Laskaridis Foundation, the project is supported by Hublot, OTE Group and Costa Navarino.
