The Aikaterini Laskaridis Foundation participated in the celebration of the European Day for the Conservation of Cultural Heritage, on Saturday, October 12, 2019, and offered a rich program of activities in the premises of its Historical Library. Our curators gave our visitors a guided tour to our temporary exhibition “One Book, Six Centuries of History” with emphasis on the history of the first centuries of typography and the process of setting up an exhibition from the perspective of a conservator. At the same time, a display of books after conservation treatment from our old and rare collections was held in collaboration with bookbinder Froso Ganiari. Visitors had the opportunity to learn about different bookbinding techniques, the methodology for preserving and restoring books, how to store them, and the role of the conservator in a modern library.
