The library came to the Foundation in 2025 through his generous donation. It includes about 3,000 items, mainly on the subjects of philology and history.

Biography

Nikolaos Konomis (1922) is a Greek Cypriot politician, educator, and academic. He has served as President of the Academy of Athens and Minister of Education of Cyprus. He was born in Morphou. He studied at the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Athens and at the Universities of Oxford and Cambridge. In 1958, he was awarded a doctorate in classics from the University of Athens. He taught classics at the universities of Cape Town, Ioannina, and Thessaloniki. He served as president of the Faculty of Philology in Ioannina (1968-69) and rector of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (1978-79). In addition, he served as president of the board of directors of the National Theater of Northern Greece (1977-80) and president of the Society of Greek-Arabic Studies. In 1990, he was elected a member of the Academy of Athens and in 2001, he became president of the Academy.
