The library of Professor Cecil Lee Striker

The library was acquired by the Foundation in 2018 and includes ca. 2,700 items. Its main themes are the art and architecture of Late Antiquity, the early Christian period, Byzantium, and the Middle Ages.

Biography

Cecil Lee Striker (1932-2024) was an art historian and a professor of art history at the University of Pennsylvania. He studied art history with a specialization in the relationship between Western and Byzantine Architecture. His doctoral thesis focused on the Byzantine Monastery of Myrelaion (now the Bodrum Mosque) in Istanbul.
