It includes approximately 12,500 items, primarily in Greek but also in French, English, Spanish, and Italian. The dominant theme is literature, with subtopics including fiction, poetry, essays, critical studies, and more. The fields of fine arts (especially cinema), history, social sciences, and philosophy are also represented. Notably, there is a significant number of works related to the city of Thessaloniki.

Biography
Panagiotis S. Pistas (born 1939) is a philologist, essayist, poet, and scholar of theater and cinema. He studied philology at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. He worked at the Institute of Modern Greek Studies (1966-1970) and in the Department of Philology at the School of Philosophy of A.U.Th. (1970-1995). He was one of the early contributors to the magazine Diagonios and to the magazines Anti, Hellenika, Kritiki, Kodeks, Logos kai Praxi, O Paratiritis, Simeioseis, and To Dentro. He has published the poetry collection Osan Poiimata (1989) under the pseudonym P. Sotiriou.
