The Institute of European Studies of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (IES, CASS) and the Aikaterini Laskaridis Foundation held a High-Level Forum for the 10th Anniversary of the “Belt and Road” Initiative (BRI) & China-Greece Relations.
Since the “Belt and Road” initiative started 10 years ago, China and Greece have continuously deepened cooperation in various fields, such as economy, trade, investment, education, culture, think tanks, tourism, etc.
The topic of the symposium focused on joint construction of the “Belt and Road”, economic cooperation, people to people exchanges between China and Greece and prospects of cultural cooperation. Following the welcome addresses and keynote speeches, four panels followed.
First panel: How ancient philosophy is affecting, even today, western and eastern way of thought and attitudes.
Second panel: A case study: how the concept of the founding of a museum of underwater antiquities in Piraeus was born, what has been achieved till today and the way forward.
Third panel: The progress of cooperation between Greek and Chinese scientific institutions and how Greece can become a destination for Chinese individuals and companies that want to do business in Europe.
Fourth panel: Discussion and evaluation of the past ten years as well as the future of the BRI in the area of education, culture and civilization.
