Aikaterini Laskaridis Foundation-The vulnerable child in literature

The vulnerable child in literature

The presence of vulnerable children in world and greek literature.

The Cerebral Palsy Society Open door and the Aikaterini Laskaridis Foundation are co-organizing a workshop on The vulnerable child in literature, on Saturday, April 20, 2024, 9.00 – 15.00, at the Historical Library of the Aikaterini Laskaridis Foundation.

  • Why do so many great writers have a vulnerable child as their hero?
  • How different is the vulnerable child they describe from the vulnerable child nowadays?
  • How do books bring the vulnerable child to the surface over time and what is their current power?

The conference is based on the belief that the fairy tales we heard in our childhood and the books we read growing up, contributed decisively to the way we perceive the world around us, and that the little vulnerable heroes never left us.

It will seek to synthesize the presence of vulnerable children in world and Greek literature, examining it from different perspectives, highlighting its diachronic elements, and exploring the role it can play in shaping social perceptions.
