The library was transferred to the Aikaterini Laskaridis Foundation in 2022 through the generous donation of Iro Diamantourou. It is a collection primarily of archaeological and historical interest, focusing on the wider region of Macedonia as well as the rest of the Greek territory. Several items pertain to global archaeology and history, while a small number of books pertain to ancient Greek literature. The materials are mainly in Greek, but many are in English, French, and fewer in German.

Biography

Despoina Papakonstantinou-Diamantourou (1939-2014) was an archaeologist. She was born in Athens and lived for a while in Switzerland, her mother’s country of origin. She studied at the Department of History and Archaeology of the School of Philosophy of the University of Athens, from which she was subsequently awarded a doctorate. She participated in the excavations of Ancient Pella. She worked as a researcher at the Institute of Historical Research of the National Research Foundation in the Department of Greek & Roman Antiquities. She published monographs and articles on archaeological subjects.
