Biography

Kleon Paraschos (1894-1964) was a writer, translator, and literary critic. He was born in Pyrgos, Bulgaria, spent his childhood in Varna, and in 1906 moved with his family to Athens. He began his studies in economics in Switzerland, returned to Athens without graduating, and enrolled in the Law School of the University of Athens, though he did not complete those studies either. He worked primarily as a journalist. He made his literary debut at the age of eighteen by publishing poems and translations in literary magazines. He published poetry collections, autobiographical texts, chronicles, essays, travel writings, and books on literary theory and criticism, and was also involved in literary translation. His writings were influenced by the intellectual movements of French symbolism, neo-romanticism, and aestheticism.
