On December 4, 2025, at 6:30 p.m., at the Historical Library, we presented our new publication, True History (“Anonymus of 1789”). This is the first literary edition, by Dr. Theodora Grigoriadou, of a radical work of the Modern Greek Enlightenment, preserved in a single copy in the C. Th. Dimaras Collection.
Despite the adverse weather conditions, friends and associates of our Foundation honored us with their presence, while many others watched the live broadcast online.
Konstantinos Mazarakis-Ainian, the Foundation’s General Director, opened the event with a welcome address.
Nikos Mavrelos, Professor of Modern Greek Literature at Democritus University of Thrace and critical reader of the publication, referred to the literary environment of the time as well as other candidates for the work’s authorship.
Gerasimos Leonidas, Professor of Typography at the University of Reading, presented an overview of Greek typographic elements and their use in Western typography from their inception until the 19th century.
Finally, the author, Theodora Grigoriadou, Researcher at the Complutense University of Madrid, spoke about her work on “True History,” the methodology she followed for the publication, the certainties she presents, and the conjectures she proposes.
An extensive discussion with the audience followed. The event was moderated by Angeliki Papadopoulou, philologist and editor of the publication, from the Aikaterini Laskaridis Foundation.
