Workshop: information literacy, media literacy, tackling disinformation and gamification

The Aikaterini Laskaridis Foundation Lending Library and the Onassis Library, under the scientific responsibility of the Metadata Laboratory of the Department of Library Science, Archives and Information Systems of the International Hellenic University, in the framework of the European project NEDLib, are organizing a training workshop on information literacy, media literacy, countering misinformation and gamification, on Wednesday, April 22, 2026 at 18.00 – 20.00 at the Lending Library of the Aikaterini Laskaridis Foundation (173 Kountouriotou Street, Piraeus).

The aim is to enhance knowledge and skills in information and digital literacy, through immediately applicable tools and innovative pedagogical material.

The program is based on four textbooks and a set of experiential activities, designed to support school and library as dynamic spaces for learning, collaboration and creative search for knowledge. All the material is freely available, ready to be used in educational practice, but also in everyday life.

In the workshop you will have the opportunity to:

  • Familiarize yourself with information literacy and information assessment strategies
  • Explore media literacy and responsible use of digital content
  • Recognise and tackle misinformation and fake news
  • Discover how gamification can transform learning experience, fostering engagement and experiential learning
