On Saturday, October 18, 2025, the Historical Library hosted a lecture by Professor Konstantinos Choulis to students of Conservation of Antiquities and Works of Art Department of the University of West Attica. Within the framework of the course “Conservation of Library – Archival Collections”, students had the opportunity to view and examine up close samples from the old and rare material in our collections and to discuss the construction elements, techniques, and structure of old bindings of the 15th and 16th centuries. Moreover, they were informed about the operation of the Historical Library and the procedures for lending and exhibiting the old and rare material. Our Head Conservator discussed with them the responsibilities a book conservator has, concerning both preventive and interventional conservation of the collections. Finally, the students were given a guided tour of the temporary exhibition “30 years, 30 books: Small, large, valuable, rare” by the curators of the exhibition and curators of the old and rare material of the Historical library.
