Aikaterini Laskaridis Foundation-Library and Archive Acquisitions in 2025

Library and Archive Acquisitions in 2025

In 2025 five new libraries were added to the Historical Library

The library of historian Xeni Baloti (1963-2022) was added to the Historical Library courtesy of her family. It focuses on modern European history and is estimated to contain approximately 9,700 items.

Part of the library of professor Dimitrios Kalitsounakis (1888-1982), including approximately 2,700 items on the subject of economics, was donated to the Historical Library by his heirs.

The library of Professor Gina Politis (1930-2023) was bequathed to the Historical Library. It is estimated to comprise some 2,000 items on literature, philology, and literary theory.

Nikolaos Konomis, a member of the Academy of Athens, kindly donated his library, estimated to include approximately 3,000 items. Prominent subjects include, among others, history and philology.

Philologist Dimitrios Natsios also generously donated his library, with approximately 1,000 items related to education.

Moreover, three new archives have been added to the Foundation’s collections.

The archive of Dimitris Perdikidis (1922-1989) complements the collection of paintings by this great Greek painter, which are on permanent display at the Aikaterini Laskaridis Foundation.

The archive of philosopher Jean-Pierre Schobinger (1927-2001), donated by his wife, complements his collection of books already held in the Historical Library.

Finally, the Foundation acquired the archive of theater director Leonidas Trivizas (1929-2022).

We extend our warmest thanks to all our donors for their selfless contribution to the continuous enrichment of our collections and vital support of our work.

Moreover, the Library’s old and rare material is continuously enriched with valuable incunables and early printed books. In 2025 we acquired a Latin 1484 Bible printed in Venice and more than 200 early printed books, mainly on the subjects of ancient Greek and Byzantine literature and travelling.
