Aikaterini Laskaridis Foundation-Visit to the Historical Library by students from the Athens School of Fine Arts

Visit to the Historical Library by students from the Athens School of Fine Arts

On November 7, 2025, a group of students from the Athens School of Fine Arts visited the Historical Library of the Aikaterini Laskaridis Foundation. The students were informed about the Foundation’s activities and were given a guided tour of the temporary exhibition “30 Years, 30 Books: Tiny, Mighty, Precious, Rare.” Particular emphasis was placed on the artistic elements of the books, such as the illustrations and decoration, as well as some exceptional examples of early Greek typefaces.

In addition, the students had the opportunity to examine up close a significant number of early publications of particular visual interest, from the 15th to the 19th century. These included incunabula with handmade decorations, early editions of mathematics and astronomy with woodcuts, travel editions with maps and engravings, and literary works with rich illustrations. Finally, important modern Greek publications of typographical interest, engravings by Greek artists, and autographs of their authors were also presented.

The students were accompanied by professors Leoni Vidali and Kostas Bakas, who contributed to the success of the visit with their insightful comments.
